The rupee remained confined to a narrow and tight range between 82.00 and 82.08. It appeared that the rupee had already factored in the impact of recent dollar volatility following the Federal Reserve's policy decisions. The capital market also traded within a limited range, providing minimal signals or triggers for the rupee. Market participants are eagerly awaiting key data releases such as Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP) data in the upcoming weeks, as these indicators are closely monitored by global central banks. Until there is further clarity on the data-specific approach, the rupee is expected to continue trading within the range of 81.75 to 82.25.

Sensex, Nifty on Tuesday

The Indian market opened cautiously due to weak global cues, with heightened concerns over the Chinese economy following their decision to cut interest rates after a 10-month pause. Global worries were amplified by concerns of a possible rate hike by the US Fed in its July meeting, with investors eagerly awaiting Powell’s testimony. However, the indices managed to recover smartly, led by upside in IT and Auto stocks.

On the upper end of the price band, the issue is valued at a P/E of 24.0x based on FY2022 earnings which we feel is richly valued. It is also interesting to note that Rs. 330 crores of the issue size is an OFS. In terms of listing gains, we recommend an “Avoid” rating for the issue . Following a moderation in valuation going forward, we will revisit the company to take a long term perspective on the business.

Opening Bell: Sensex, Nifty decline marginally; IIFL Securities plunges 18%, HDFC AMC jumps 7%

Pre-open session: Sensex rises 10 points; Nifty above 18,750

Markets are likely to be on the back foot in early Tuesday trades amid weak global cues, even as People's Bank of China (PBoC), as widely expected, slashed its key lending rates. Multiple factors such as mounting Chinese growth fears, FII & DIIs turning sellers in yesterday’s trade, anxiety ahead of Powell’s Wednesday testimony before the US Congress, and a delayed monsoon would prompt investors to trade with caution. The flow of the global markets trend would continue to dictate the sentiment back home. While Nifty is close to its all-time high level of 18,888 mark, sharp intra-day volatile moves could dent the sentiment.

Global markets also took a breather after a strong rally last week as investors looked forward to China’s rate decision and the Fed chair's testimony. The Indian rupee has been exhibiting strength recently, supported by strong FII inflows and favourable domestic macroeconomic data.
