The benchmark BSE Sensex surged 746 points on Monday, closing above the 80,000 mark, driven by strong buying in oil, auto, and banking stocks amid renewed foreign fund inflows.
The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 746.29 points, or 0.93%, to close at 80,604.08, with 26 of its components finishing in the green. In intraday trade, the index rose as much as 778.26 points, or 0.97%, to touch 80,636.05.
