Japan's Nikkei down for third straight session as tech shares fall

Nikkei fell 0.65% to 42,610.17, marking a 2.5% drop over three sessions post record high; Topix slid 0.52%.

Tech stocks dragged, with Tokyo Electron down 2.41% and SoftBank losing 2.01%; Daiichi Sankyo plunged 7.18%.

Advantest rebounded 1.67%, while cable makers Furukawa Electric and Fujikura gained on data centre demand hopes.

Investors await Powell’s Jackson Hole speech; markets already price in a September Fed rate cut, but dovish remarks may still trigger profit-booking.
