Ferrous metals post strong gains in Q1, non-ferrous players struggle



Metal companies’ June 2025 quarter performance was shaped by movements in raw material and product prices. Ferrous producers posted profit growth, supported by stronger domestic steel prices and cheaper coking coal. In contrast, non-ferrous players delivered subdued results amid weaker aluminium and zinc prices. Steelmakers also gained from lower coking coal costs and government-imposed safeguard duties.
