Japan's Nikkei slips as election, US tariffs weigh

The Nikkei 225 Index lost 0.6% to 39,646.36, while the broader Topix shed 0.6%.

There were 60 advancers on the Nikkei index against 163 decliners.

The biggest losers by percentage were Nikon, down 5.3%, followed by Omron, which sank 5.2%.
