The rupee weakened by 19 paise to 85.15 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday, influenced by rising geopolitical tensions and heightened demand for the US dollar.
Forex traders noted that escalating tensions between India and Pakistan have triggered risk-off sentiment in the market, putting pressure on the rupee. However, foreign fund inflows and stable crude oil prices helped mitigate the downside for the domestic currency.
