Despite recent bounce, 8 of 10 bank stocks still trade below year-ago valuations

Most Indian banks are trading below their year-ago valuations due to slowing credit growth, NIM pressure, and regulatory measures.
28 out of 31 listed banks have lower P/B ratios compared to last year, with only a few large private lenders showing slight improvements.
HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank saw increases in their P/B ratios, while SBI, Kotak Mahindra, Axis, and others experienced declines.
The banking sector faces cautious sentiment, despite the BSE Bankex gaining nearly 11% in the past year.
