Australian shares closed lower on Thursday, as President Donald Trump's unexpectedly aggressive stance on reshaping global trade unsettled investors.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index fell 0.9% to close at 7,859.7 points, after dipping as much as 2.1% earlier in the day.
