South Korean shares fell more than 1% on Tuesday, dragged down by battery and steelmakers, on fears that the U.S. economy might be headed towards recession amid an escalating tariff war.

The benchmark KOSPI dropped 33.14 points, or 1.29%, to 2,537.25, marking its biggest daily drop and the lowest level since March 4.
