China stocks edge up on Beijing's plan for insurers to buy mainland shares





Chinese stocks edged higher Thursday, led by financials, while Hong Kong shares fell as investors assessed Beijing's push for insurers to invest in mainland stocks. The CSI300 rose 0.2%, and the Shanghai Composite gained 0.5%, paring early gains. Insurance firms, banks, and financials rose 3.5%, 2.3%, and 1.9%, respectively, following new market-boosting measures.
