S&P 500 ends at fresh record high, as Dow scales 43k for first time

Wall Street closed higher on Monday, with both the S&P 500 and the Dow reaching new record highs as investors focused on technology stocks ahead of a busy week of corporate earnings and important economic data.

Trading was relatively quiet due to the bond markets being closed for the federal holiday, with only 9.55 billion shares traded compared to the average of 12.05 billion shares over the past 20 days.
