Indian benchmark indices Nifty50 and Sensex reached new record highs for the sixth consecutive session on Thursday, fueled by gains in the auto and metal sectors. The Nifty surpassed the 26,200 mark for the first time, while the Sensex finished just 164 points shy of 86,000.
The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 666 points, or 0.78%, closing at 85,836, while the broader NSE Nifty rose 212 points, or 0.81%, to finish at 26,216.
