China stocks edge up on policy easing hopes

Chinese stocks edged higher, and Hong Kong markets recovered much of their earlier losses by Thursday's close, buoyed by indications from the Chinese central bank of additional policy easing.

Zou Lan, head of the People's Bank of China's monetary policy department, noted that there is still scope for reducing the reserve requirements for banks. He added that the central bank will persist in applying policies to support economic recovery.
