European stock markets fell sharply at the beginning of trading on Wednesday due to a series of mixed corporate earnings reports.
London's FTSE 100 declined by 0.4 percent to 8,136.64 points, the Paris CAC 40 dropped by 1.2 percent to 7,511.57 points, and the Frankfurt DAX lost 0.8 percent, falling to 18,416.71 points.
