European shares slip as lacklustre miners, luxury retailers in focus

European markets began Tuesday on a negative note, influenced by a decline in metals miners and dampened investor sentiment due to disappointing earnings reports from luxury retailers Hugo Boss and Richemont.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index was down 0.4% as of 0718 GMT. The basic resources sector experienced the most significant decline, dropping 1.2% as it followed the easing prices of copper.
