The 30-stock S&P BSE Sensex reached a new intraday high of 79,243.03 and closed at 79,243.18, gaining 568.93 points or 0.72%. Meanwhile, the broader Nifty surpassed the 24,000 mark for the first time, finishing at 24,044.50, up by 175.70 points or 0.74%.
