European stock markets open lower on Wednesday





European stock markets opened lower on Wednesday, despite reports of a slowdown in UK inflation. London's FTSE 100 index fell by 0.3 percent to 8,165.75 points, despite official data indicating that UK inflation had eased to the Bank of England's 2.0-percent target for the first time in nearly three years. Meanwhile, in the eurozone, the Paris CAC 40 index dropped by 0.4 percent to 7,600.96 points, and Frankfurt's DAX retreated by 0.3 percent to 18,074.12 points.
