Indian headline indices took a nosedive on Thursday ahead of the final phase of polling, with most sectors experiencing selling pressure. The S&P BSE Sensex plummeted to the day's low of 73,668.73, shedding nearly 800 points or 1%, while the broader Nifty hit an intraday low of 22,459.15, declining by 250 points or 1%.
By the day's end, the Sensex closed at 73,885.60, down by 617.30 points, while the 50-stock Nifty settled at 22,488.65, marking a decrease of 216.05 points. Thursday's trading session marked the fifth consecutive day of declines for the benchmark indices.
