Tokyo stocks opened higher on Friday, supported by rallies on Wall Street as investors shrugged off weak retail sales data. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was up 1.11 percent, or 421.67 points, at 38,579.61 in early trade, while the broader Topix index added 1.02 percent, or 26.55 points, to 2,618.40.
