Tokyo stocks opened higher on Friday, extending gains from the previous day's session when the benchmark Nikkei index ended above 35,000 for the first time since 1990. The Nikkei 225 was up 1.47 percent, or 514.58 points, to 35,564.44 in early trade, while the broader Topix index added 0.72 percent, or 18.00 points, to 2,500.87.
